Geneva Scott

Geneva was fierce and fearless! Born on February 14, 1912, in Deland, Florida, Gevena's life was destined for greatness. Approaching adulthood, Gevena moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she married and had two children, Bobby and Ro. Resting north of Broward Boulevard lives the Historic Sistrunk neighborhood, where Geneva served as a pioneer, songbird, entrepreneur, and educator. Geneva was known to have a servant’s heart. With it, she baked, cooked, and served her community however possible. Above all, Geneva established Geneva’s Nursery within St. John’s Methodist Church on the historic Fifth Avenue (Off 6th Street), a prominent, thriving African American community where black-owned businesses thrived during the peak of segregation. With a flare of heart and a hint of vintage, this business is dedicated to Geneva’s timeless beauty, fierceness, and the amazing woman she was. Through service, Geneva touched many lives, and Geneva Off 6th keeps the legacy of thee, Geneva Scott, alive by doing the same.
